Monastic Secondary English Boarding School was established in 1986 by Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Sah. He first started the school at his village, Matihani, Nepal when he was still a medical student. The school was established in a small building at Mathaini with 3 boys and 2 girls. In late 1986 the school moved to Janakpurdham (kingdom of king janak – Hindu mythology) at rented building in Bhanuchowk. Originally only kindergarten and primary classes were offered, but as the students progressed through the school, the higher levels were offered till 10+2.
By 1989, there were about 200 students on the roll, and about 500 by 1991. As the school grew, the founder Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Sah left his medical practice and was involved completely in the school. Mrs. Veen Devi Sah (wife of Dr. Mithilesh Kumar Sah) was incharge of boarder and kindergarten. Both of them worked together day and night for the better care of the children in the school.
