Butwal Public School was established with its motto "Learning through practice" on Baisakh in the year 2059 BS. The School was established by Mr. Hemlal Sharma as the Founder Chairman and Mrs. Meera Sharma(Founder Principal) including Mr. Bishnu Bashyal, Mrs.Premkala Belbase & Mrs. Tejinder Verma as the founder teacher. The first student to join BPS was Susmita Poudel in Class-1. The school had only 22 students upto class-1 in the first year, 2059 BS. It was run in a rented building.
The school was shifted in its own school building at Shankarnagar -8. There were 125 students upto class-V in 2060 BS. The unique designing of the building with its infrastructure and quality education was and has been appraised by all.
School has been organizing variety of Teacher's Training programmes since 2060 BS with different National & International Professional Trainers namely Mr. J.R. Praser, from India, Mr. Devi Lal Joshi, Budhanilkantha School, Kathmandu and currently Mr. Parshuram Niraula, from National Teachers Training Centre, Kathmandu.
The School has already organized two National and numerous Regional and Local level programmes since its establishment. It has organized BPS National Education Mahotsav-2063 and BPS 20-20 National Cricket Cup-2064. where Mr. Balananda Paudel, Secretary to Ministry of Education and Mr. Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Secretary to Council of Development for Sports respectively were the chief guests.
The School has celebrated a decade of its Anniversary in 2068 B.S. The Schools is introducing GCA A- level programme in association with University of Cambridge, UK for the first time in Lumbini Zone.
